Looking for the best family hotels in Thailand? From luxury beach resorts and private-pool villas to jungle retreats and hotels packed with activities for children, Thailand has an incredible choice of places to stay with kids.

I’ve picked eight family-friendly hotels and resorts across Thailand that stand out for their location, facilities and overall experience. Whether you’re looking for calm beaches, brilliant kids’ clubs, swimming pools, outdoor adventures or simply somewhere beautiful to relax together, there’s an option here for different types of family holidays.

What Makes a Great Family Hotel in Thailand?

The best family hotels in Thailand aren’t necessarily the most luxurious. For families, the right resort needs to make a holiday easy as well as enjoyable.

Look for facilities such as kids’ clubs, family rooms, children’s pools, play areas, water activities and restaurants that work well for younger travellers. Location matters too. A beautiful beachfront resort can be fantastic, but families may prefer somewhere with calm swimming conditions, easy airport transfers and plenty to do without leaving the resort.

It’s also worth thinking about what your children actually enjoy. A toddler-friendly resort with shallow pools and soft play will suit a very different family from one travelling with teenagers who want watersports, adventure activities or their own space.

The Best Family Hotels in Thailand

1. InterContinental Khao Yai Resort, Pak Chong

Best for: something completely different

This isn’t your typical family resort. Sitting close to Khao Yai National Park, it has an imaginative vintage railway theme, with old train carriages transformed into unique accommodation. Families can choose suites with bunk beds, while younger guests can get involved in treasure hunts, gardening and Thai dancing. The national park is another huge reason to stay, with the possibility of seeing elephants, hornbills, monkeys and other wildlife.

2. Kimpton Kitalay Samui

Best for: younger children & calm seas

Set on beautiful Choeng Mon Beach, this is a lovely option for families who want a stylish resort without sacrificing the things children actually enjoy. The sheltered water is particularly good for younger swimmers and beginner snorkellers. Junio Kids’ Club combines indoor and outdoor play with mini waterslides, fountains and climbing areas. Families wanting extra space can also look at the two-bedroom private-pool villa with direct beach access.

3. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui

Best for: a luxury family escape

For families wanting to go all-out, Four Seasons Koh Samui combines serious luxury with plenty for children. Villas tumble down a lush hillside towards the resort’s private beach, with beautiful views across the Gulf of Thailand. There’s snorkelling, watersports, a beachfront infinity pool and a fantastic treehouse-style kids’ club, while teenagers have their own space with games including pool and air hockey. Meanwhile, adults have excellent restaurants, a spa and cookery experiences to enjoy.

4. Banyan Tree Krabi

Best for: families who want relaxation too

Set directly on gorgeous Tubkaak Beach, Banyan Tree Krabi manages to feel peaceful and sophisticated while still being genuinely family-friendly. Parents can make the most of yoga, tropical gardens and the resort’s impressive spa, while children have their own club and water-play area. There’s also an outdoor adventure zone with a zip line, rope bridge and dragon cave.

5. The Slate, Phuket

Best for: stylish families holidays

The Slate is definitely not your standard family beach hotel. Its striking design takes inspiration from Phuket’s tin-mining history, creating a resort that feels quirky, luxurious and completely individual. Hidden among tropical gardens are spacious rooms and villas, several restaurants, three swimming pools, a spa and kids’ facilities. Nai Yang Beach is right alongside the resort, and plane-loving kids will enjoy walking along the beach towards the famous viewpoint near Phuket Airport.

6. Our Jungle House, Khao Sok National Park

Best for: family adventure

Swap the beach for one of Thailand’s most spectacular natural landscapes. Our Jungle House sits beside Khao Sok National Park, surrounded by ancient rainforest, towering limestone mountains and incredible wildlife. Families can stay in wooden cottages or treehouses and fill their days with activities such as wildlife spotting, rafting, jungle adventures and visits to ethical elephant experiences. Accommodation is much simpler than Thailand’s luxury resorts, but that’s part of the fun.

7. The Sands Khao Lak by Katathani

Best for: family fun

One of my favourites for families who want plenty happening at the hotel without giving up a beautiful beachfront setting. The Sands Khao Lak has a dedicated family area with pools, waterslides, a lazy river and splash zones, plus a kids’ club and lots of activities to keep younger guests occupied. There are spacious family rooms, several pools and direct access to Nang Thong Beach. Khao Lak itself has a much more relaxed atmosphere than busy Phuket, making this a great choice for families wanting a balance of entertainment and downtime.

8. Six Senses Koh Yao Noi

Best for: little eco-adventurers

Halfway between Phuket and Krabi, Koh Yao Noi offers a quieter and more natural side of Thailand. Six Senses makes the most of that setting with kayaking, cycling, cooking experiences, outdoor cinema nights and activities designed to introduce children to the island and its environment. Kids can learn about local farms, planting and conservation, while parents have one of Thailand’s most spectacular infinity pools and the Six Senses spa waiting for them.

Which Part of Thailand Is Best for a Family Holiday?

Thailand works brilliantly for different types of family holidays. Phuket and Khao Lak are great choices for families who want beautiful beaches and plenty of resort facilities, while Koh Samui offers a mix of calm beaches, luxury resorts and family-friendly activities. For something more adventurous, Khao Sok is hard to beat, with jungle landscapes, wildlife and outdoor experiences.

If you’re not sure which destination or resort would work best for your family, I can help you choose based on your children’s ages, travel style and what you want from the holiday.

And this is only the beginning… Thailand has so many brilliant family resorts, whether your priority is a huge waterpark, an amazing beach, kids’ clubs, luxury villas or somewhere that feels like a real adventure. 🇹🇭🌴
